The Sustainable Swimwear Brands We’re Loving in 2022

Things are heating up here in Seattle, and we’re excited to finally hit the beach (while still practicing safety precautions of course). Although we have to admit, shopping for a new swimsuit doesn't always top the list of favorite things to do, especially after 2 years of lockdown.

To make things easier, we’ve rounded up a list of swimsuits that deliver the sustainability, originality, and range of styles and coverage we love. Check them out below!

OF ONE SEA

Based on the North Shore of Oahu, OF ONE SEA was born out of admiration of the unique nature that can only be found in the Hawaiian Islands. The swimwear and lifestyle brand makes sustainability a key focus by using material from recycled plastic bottles in all of their swimwear. These plastics are broken down into fine thread fibers and blended with a 4-way stretch swim fabric to create the most durable, comfortable, water-wicking swimwear out there. The best part? OF ONE SEA creates swim styles for the whole family!

We’re absolutely loving the One Piece in Torch Ginger Red Dirt. Oh, and did we mention it’s on sale right now?! Don’t forget to add on the matching piece for your little one while you’re at it!

KŌRARU

Koraru is the Japanese pronunciation of the English word ‘coral.’ The slow fashion swimwear brand was born out of the desire to operate in a more holistic and circular way to protect one of the most essential yet threatened ecosystems, coral reefs. Koraru swimwear is made from ECONYL, a regenerated yarn material sourced from nylon waste found in fishing nets, carpeting and industrial plastic. In addition, packaging is made from upcycled algae and sustainably sourced wood fibers, paptic tringa, which is 100% recyclable.

We’re loving the modest and chic Annie One Shoulder Bandeau Top and the Annie High Waist Bottoms in burgundy that can be mixed and matched for a variety of looks.

Vai Swim

Vai Swim is another one of our favorites! The Italian-inspired brand is manufactured in the USA and uses ECONYL to produce their fabrics, which feel so luxurious to the touch it’s hard to believe it’s sustainable! Their simple designs and stretchy yet high-quality fabrics make for the perfect elevated basic. In addition, all packaging is made from 100% recyclable materials and swimwear is produced in small quantities to limit the waste of natural resources. The Thea Top and Ava Bottom in ash make for the perfect simple yet classy beach look!
