How to Care for your Body Today and Every Day

Health and fitness can hold a different meaning for every person. We want to encourage healthy and balanced lifestyles and open up a conversation for women to share their health and fitness journeys. Challenge yourself to try something new today that will push you to reach your next fitness goal. Here is a list of things you can do today in honor of National Women’s Health and Fitness Day!

  1. Discover a new fitness activity

From pilates to Zumba to cycling, there’s something for everyone. Step outside of your comfort zone and switch up your workout routine - it’s an exciting way to challenge your body!

  1. Take the day off

Relax. Sleep in. Wear sweatpants all day, do face masks, and light some scented candles. Part of being healthy and fit includes rewarding your body with rest. It’s easy to go, go, go all the time, so take time to step back and just breathe.

  1. Find a friend to get active with

Call up that friend you keep saying you’re going to catch up with and explore a new hike, go biking or take the dogs for a walk! Doing something active with a friend is good for your mind and body and helps you build community.

  1. Pay your doctor a visit

Newsflash! You’re not the only one who dreads going to the doctor. It’s easy to put off scheduling an appointment when you’re young, especially if nothing feels wrong, but regular checkups are important to overall well-being regardless of your age. Be proactive rather than reactive when it comes to your health. You will find peace of mind when you regularly check up on your body, both mentally and physically.

  1. Get a massage

Treat yourself! Whether you splurge on a two-hour, full-body massage from a high-end spa or get your partner or a friend to give you a simple back massage, relaxing those muscles will do wonders. Your body will thank you!

  1. Try a new recipe using healthy foods

How many TikTok or Instagram recipes do you keep saving and saying you’re going to try? Today is the day! Pick up local and seasonal ingredients from the farmer’s market, use organic produce and make yourself proud with the amazing meal you’re going to whip up.

  1. Go to bed early - get that sleep!

It’s easier said than done. “Busy” schedules are prioritized over sleep when really, it should be the other way around. Put your phone down early, select “do not disturb” if you have to, and don’t be tempted when Netflix asks you if you’d like to “continue watching.” You focus better, work more effectively and avoid sickness when you stay caught up on sleep.

Whatever you do today, focus on YOUR health and fitness. Keep pushing towards your goals and remember to support the goals of the women around you. Happy National Women’s Health and Fitness day!
