Must-Try Beauty Treatments for Summer

As self-care enthusiasts, there’s nothing we like more than settling in for a night of Netflix while giving a new DIY beauty treatment a test drive. However, not all DIY beauty tricks are created equal. So, to save you some time and energy, here are a few of our go-to at-home beauty treatments.

Turmeric and Honey Face Mask

1 tablespoon of honey

1 teaspoon turmeric

4 to 5 drops of lemon juice

Process: In a medium bowl, combine all ingredients until they form a rich paste. Apply to skin and leave for 10-15 minutes. Rinse off with warm water. Use up to three times a week or as needed.

Verdict: This is a gentle yet effective mask for all skin types, especially those prone to breakouts and pesky mask-ne. The turmeric may stain your face a bit, but a quick swipe of toner will wipe away any excess. Also, this mask smells amazing!

Avocado Hair Mask for Split Ends

½ avocado

½ cup olive oil

Process: In a medium bowl, mash the avocado until it’s the perfect guacamole consistency (but don’t eat it!). Then, add the olive oil and mix until evenly combined. Apply to the bottom half of your hair, focusing on the ends. Leave for up to two hours, then rinse off in the shower, followed by shampoo and conditioner.

Verdict: This recipe went viral on TikTok during quarantine-- and for a good reason, it really works! If you are prone to split ends, this is the perfect DIY treatment for you. As summer rolls in, keep this recipe on hand to treat sun-damaged hair.

Sugar Lip Scrub

1 teaspoon brown sugar

1 teaspoon white sugar

½ teaspoon olive oil

1 teaspoon honey

Process: In a small bowl, start by combining the brown and white sugar. Then add in the olive oil and honey while stirring.

Verdict: The lip scrub is incredible. It effectively removes dry skin, reveals fresh layers, and leaves lips feeling smooth, soft, and kissable. It was the easiest and best-smelling lip scrub we’ve ever used!
