Comfort Foods for Fall

It’s that time of year again in Seattle. Temperatures are dropping and its dark by 5 p.m. It’s no wonder we are turning to our favorite comfort foods to warm us up! Here are the everyday seasonal foods we’re enjoying the most right now: Comfort Foods for Fall On a cold, drizzly morning is there anything better than hot coffee and a delicious donut? Our favorite are the fresh organic donuts from Mighty-O! We’re especially loving their Pumpkin Spice variety this month. If you’re looking for a fresh donut on your way to work or as a weekend treat, Mighty-O’s new Capitol Hill location is now open! Harvest Foods Blog_4 With all the seasonal treats flying around we try to keep our health in check by making sure to have a salad for lunch. Thanks to organicgirl we’ve mastered the art of making a super-fast, healthy and delicious salad. Our current favorite? Their spicy PEPPERGREENS (the cress and mustard’s heat warms us up) with creamy White Cheddar dressing.  Most days we simply shake the dressing up in the clamshell and devour the whole thing! Harvest Foods Blog_3 After a late night at the office, we’re so grateful for Beecher’s homemade Mac ‘n’ Cheese or Kale and Brown Rice Gratin—delicious, no-fuss and our kids eat them up, kale and all. Plus, after a sweet organic breakfast and healthy green lunch, we need a savory dinner to keep us balanced :) While we love a pre-made meal that we can pop in the oven, nothing beats the taste and quality of a home cooked dinner.  For a seasonal (and healthier) version of mac n’ cheese try adding in pumpkin! Here are our favorite recipes: Harvest Foods Blog_2 An easy vegan pumpkin mac n’ cheeze from Oh She GlowsHarvest Foods Blog_1 And baked pumpkin mac n’ cheese with PEPPERGREENS from A Spoonful of Flavor.
