5 Tips for a Successful Giveaway

Hosting a social media giveaway is harder than it seems. From rules and regulations to promotion and content, we’ve got you covered with these 5 tips for engaging your audience with free product. 1. Set goals As with any marketing campaign, it’s important to set tangible and stretch goals for your giveaway. What do you want to accomplish? Do you want to add more social media followers? Increase newsletter subscribers? Introduce a new product to your core audience? Consider your end game, and map back from there. 2. Make it good Even though you’re giving away something for free, it doesn’t mean you can skimp on quality.  Consumers are savvy, and with the internet at their fingertips, they know when they’re being taken for a ride.  Skip the tchotchkes and give them real product. You have a better chance of creating an army of brand advocates and loyal customers than one-time Joes who hold little value to your business. 3. Establish your guidelines Be sure you’re clear in the giveaway rules and regulations. It sets boundaries for the entrants and protects you from unwarranted demands. 4. Post it Don’t post your giveaway just once – post it often! But not too often. Your social media followers don’t want their newsfeed dominated by your posts – so keep it to 2-3 times per week. They should be simple and directive with a clear call to action. 5. Don’t go at it alone With so many moving pieces, maximize the opportunity to engage directly with your customers by partnering with marketing experts who know the ins and outs of product giveaways.
