Small Changes, Major Impact

While we are conscious of the impact we have on the environment in our daily life, this news forced us to take a step back and think about what more we can do to save our planet. After all, it only takes one person, one small change to create a profound impact. Want proof? Check out the Versova Beach clean-up. Here's what we're doing starting now: “The amount of plastic we use haunts me after seeing this heartbreaking video of a sea turtle with a plastic straw stuck in its nose. I’m striving to use a lot less plastic in my daily life and taking notice of the little things we put in the garbage without giving it a second thought. Plus, being diligent about reusable options in place of throwaway things – like cups, water bottles, utensils and straws.” –Shauna “I’m a coffee addict and while I do enjoy sipping one cup at home each day, I visit Starbucks at least five times a week. That’s a lot of plastic, especially now that it’s summer and I’m enjoying my iced coffee through a straw. I’m committed to bringing my own, reusable cup on my coffee outings. I even ordered one of these super cute tumblers to keep me accountable!” – Sarah “I’ve been reading about and joining the discussion on how our meat intake negatively effects the environment. This article was one of the first I read to gain more of an understanding on what high levels of meat consumption does to the planet. It’s intimidating to think about cutting meat out completely so I’m taking small steps by not consuming beef—one of the biggest contributors to greenhouse gas emissions and water and land usage.” – Alex “Living in a Passive House that uses significantly less energy for heating and cooling, I’m planning to be more active in opening our house to those who are curious – through individual and organized home tours.   On a day-to-day level, I’m planning to be more conscious about reducing food waste.  A few fun ideas I found for aging food is to juice it or to create a quick kitchen sink stir fry or wrap. I will also be more diligent about building menus around what we have.” – Jennifer What are your thoughts? Share them with us on The Reveal or on Facebook and Instagram!
