We’re Not Afraid of Carbs

With summer right around the corner, your newsfeed is probably flooded with links to carb-free recipes, light dinner entrees and barbecue tips and tricks. We’re all about the healthy choices, but make no mistake that we love our carbs (they are fuel for the brain after all). A simple, fresh pasta salad is one of our favorite dishes to make in a hurry during the warm weather months. Toss a few tablespoons of La Tourangelle olive oil in a bowl with a diced tomato, a handful of chopped basil, a pinch of pink Himalayan sea salt from Salt Works and a dash of pepper. Put the bowl to the side and let it marinate. Boil your favorite pasta. Once cooked and drained, toss in a few handfuls of organicgirl spinach leaves while the pasta is still hot and add it into the olive oil mixture. Top with a sprinkle of feta cheese and enjoy! Another easy, summer favorite is a classic peanut butter and banana or sliced strawberry sandwich. Yes, we said it – bread in the summer . You’re undoubtedly well-aware of how to make a PJ&J sandwich by now, but let us suggest a few of our go-to ingredients. First, start with Alvarado Street Bakery’s incredible line of sprouted breads. The organic, simple ingredients make these loaves some of the tastiest we’ve ever enjoyed (plus, they’re baked in a solar powered bakery!). Another one of our must-have ingredients? Wild Friends flavored peanut butters will give your sandwich an extra kick of flavor. Are your favorite summer dishes carb-free? What are some of your go-to recipes? Tell us on Facebook or Instagram!
